PFC Ray A. Courson of 529 Liberty Street, Clarion, recently completed the armored crewman course at Seventh Army Tank Training Center in Germany. Courson, who arrived overseas in March, 1957, is a son of Mrs. Hazel Courson, Colrane Street, Sligo. He was graduated from Sligo High School in 1951. He has been in the army since August 1956. His wife, Donnie, lives at the Clarion address. 11/16/1957 Derrick.

MYERS, DENNIS C. — Oct 9, 1968 Clarion News-- PFC DENNIS C. MYERS--SLIGO AREA MAN NOW IN GERMANY-- Pfc. Dennis C. Myers, son of Mr and Mrs. Dean Myers of RD2 Sligo, entered the army on February 7, 1968. He took his basic training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, then was sent to Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland where he attended Mechanic School for 14 weeks. Upon graduation he spent a 15 day leave with his family. He then reported to Fort Dix, New Jersey from which point he went to Frankfurt, Germany. His address is: Pfc. Dennis C. Myers, RA5284434; 29th C.C. & S. Company, A.P.O. New York, New York, 09165. Birthdaying in Vietnam - Dennis C. Myers - May 12 - Dennis C. Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Myers of Sligo RD2, will celebrate his 21st birthday May 12. He is now stationed in Germany. His address is Sp/4 Dennis C. Myers, RA 52857734, 296th CC&S Company, Box 20, APO New York 09165. [Oil City Derrick 5/8/1969] Mar 13, 1970 Oil City Derrick -- Sligo Man Awarded Letter of Merit -- HANAU, Germany - Spec. Five Dennis C. Myers, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean W. Myers, Sligo RD 2 was awarded a letter of appreciation while serving in the 296th Collection, Classification and Salvage Company near Hanau, Germany. He earned the award for meritorious service while assigned as a mechanic in the company. Spec. 5 Myers entered in Army in February 1968, completed basic training at Ft. Gordon, Ga., and was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., before arriving overseas the following September. He is a 1966 graduate of Union High School in Rimersburg.
