CRAIG, EDWARD “SAMUEL” — Edward Samuel Craig was a well known and highly respected young man of Sligo, and a consistent member of the Sligo Presbyterian Church, having united with the church during the pastorate of Rev. Ardo P. Bittinger. He will be sadly missed in the home and community. The lovely and loving brother and friend died where manhood's morning almost touches noon, and while the shadows still were falling toward the west. He had not passed, on life's highway, the stone that marks its highest point; but, being weary for a moment he laid down by the wayside and, using his burden for a pillow, fell into that dreamless sleep that kisses down his eyelids still. While yet in love with life and raptured with the world, he passed to silence and pathetic dust. Service was in charge of Rev. C.L. McCoy, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the Sligo Cemetery. -A friend (newspaper obituary) Submitted by Pegi Males-Nelson CRAIG, EDWARD SAMUEL -- On Friday night Eddie Craig died after a long and serious illness. CRAIG, EDWARD YOUNG 1860-1870 Son of Robert Nelson Craig.
CRAIG, ELMYRA (miss) — Elmyra, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Craig, died Thursday morning, February 13, 1908, in the 40th year of her age, at her home near Sligo. The sad intelligence, though not entirely unexpected, came as a distinct shock to her many friends and cast a feeling of gloom over the entire community. About one year ago her health failed. Bravely and hopefully she kept up the uneven struggle but finally she was compelled to yield to the insidious attack of the dread destroyer. Elmyra Craig was a young woman of sterling character. Firm in conviction, strong and determined in action, yet kind and generous, and ever considerate of the happiness of others, her life combined those qualities that command the admiration and love of all who knew her. Though stricken down in the full tide of life, when the future seemed to hold in promise so much of joy and happiness she was resigned and prepared for death with the same spirit of hope and fortitude which had characterized her throughout life. She united with the church many years ago and was at the time of her death a member of the Cherry Run United Presbyterian church. Her place in the church, in the family, in the circle of her friends, is vacant, and the vacancy cannot be filled by another, but the memory of her life will be cherished with loving devotion still. Besides her parents she leaves to survive her one sister, Mrs. John Porter, of Butler, Pa., and one brother, John F. Craig, of Sligo. Funeral services were conducted at the home on Saturday morning by Rev. McBride, of the United Presbyterian church of Kit tanning, and the remains were carried to their last resting place in the Sligo cemetery, followed by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. Clarion Democrat, February 27, 1908 .

CRAIG, ROBERT BRUCE —son of Lt David Ramsey & Nancy Jane (Means) Craig.
CRAIG, ROBERT NELSON — (Ed. note: I'm not sure who wrote the following account, but I believe it was his son, John Milton Craig) — Robert N. Craig, 5th son of William Craig, Sr., was a carder and fuller by trade. He was born in Waterford, Erie County, Pa. and went to Clarion Co. about 1827. He worked at his trade in Summer ad taught school in winter until 1830 when he purchased a farm of 95 acres on Licking Creek (being a part of the same tract his brothers James and Washington had purchased). Another parcel of this same tract, laying between these two, was afterward purchased by his brother William in 1834. He married Nancy Crow 9 Dec 1830 (in some records she is referred to as Eliza Anne Crow so whether Nancy is a nickname or whether there is a discrepancy I don't know). After his marriage he turned his attention to farming for a short time and then built a woolen mill which he operated until his death. He was a close student all his life, excelling in mathematics. Often in his spare time he would be occupied in solving some difficult problem in arithmetic or algebra, having in middle life mastered the elements of algebra without the aid of an instructor. From the organization of the public schools until the close of his life, he acted in the capacity of school director and examined all applicants for schools in the district. He was in the true sense a lover of learning and well versed in modern and ancient history - being familiar with the history of the men who have given character to the times in which they lived. He loved the society of scholars and took special delight in every species of literary entertainment. With his other accomplishments he had mastered surveying at an early age. This was of untold benefit to his neighbors and friends whenever there was disputed lines or unknown boundaries, or when they desired a division of land. Nancy Crow Craig, after a long illness with consumption, died 12 Nov 1853. She is buried in the Callensburg, Pa. Cemetery. About a year later, in October 1854, Robert N. Craig married Margaret Mary Fackender, daughter of Mary (McKee) and Daniel Fackender. She was a Sister to Louisa Fackender, the wife of Robert's brother Rufus H. Craig. R. N. and Margaret had 6 children, of whom only two lived to adulthood. Just seven months after the birth of his last child Robert Helson Craig was suddenly summoned hence by that messenger whose call brooks no denial, paralysis of the heart. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, constantly engaged in works of charity among his fellow man. Margaret Fackender Craig did 2 Nov 1910 and is buried in Callensburg cemetery. CRAIG, WILLIAM FERGUSON — CRAIG William Ferguson --At the ripe age of 85 years, 9 months and 23 days, Mr. Craig, one of the honored and most highly esteemed citizens of Toby twp., near Sligo, passed the way of December I, 1910, and slept with his fathers. The call came suddenly, from an attack of heart failure. and man the burden of life was laid down and the spirit went back from whence it came. Mr. Craig was the son of James and Jane Ferguson Craig and was born in Indiana county, Pa., February 3, 1825. He came to Clarion county in 1830 to the farm where he died. Here he grew to manhood and lived, labored and loved, and was married to Miss Margaret Fulmer. He is now survived by the following children: Mrs. J.M. Porter, Butler, Pa.; and John F. Craig, at home, died Feb. 13, 1908. Three brothers also survive, Rufus and Washington, of Sligo, and Robert of Indiana, Pa. four half brothers and two half sisters also survive. The deceased was a charter member of the United Presbyterian Church and eminently religious life whose teaching by precept and example was the outgrowth of such a life. He commanded the confidence and respect of all who knew him, in all of the relations of life-religious, business and social. For many years he was engaged in the milling business under the firm name of W.F. & W.A. Craig. In 1887 he sold out his interest in the mill and devoted his entire attention to farming, which he actively pursued until the last. He was a man of strong mental grip and his mind remained clear and active until the day of his demise. The funeral was held last Saturday, the services being conducted at his late home by Rev. Dr. J.M. McCurdy, of Curllsville, and the interment was made in Sligo cemetery. May he rest in peace and comfort be ministered to the bereaved. NOTE: This differs somewhat from A. J. Davis' account of him, i. e. birth location. Submitted by Paul Kifer. Clarion Democrat, December 8, 1910. Submitted by Pamela Myers Grewell.
