GUTH, A.C. — Guth, A.C. - The well known citizen of East Brady died last Friday, August 24, 1906, after a brief illness. His death came as a terrible shock to his wife and family and friends, as they were not alarmed until a very short time prior to his passing away. The cause of death was inward abcess on his breast, which broke a few hours previous thereto. With the breaking of the abcess the pain was gone and in spite of the fatal issue he passed away painlessly and peacefully. Mr. Guth was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leopold Guth of Clarion and was born May 30, 1855, when his parents made their home in Callensburg. When two years old, his parents came to Clarion where he grew to manhood. On November 22, 1881, in New Bethlehem, Mr. Guth and Mrs. Lucy Conrad of Sligo were joined in the holy bonds of wedlock, and life to them has been very happy. They lived seven years at Reynoldsville, one year at Tionesta, and then went to East Brade about 16 years ago where they have resided ever since. Their family consists of seven children and the friends have the profound sympathy of the entire community on the great loss they have sustained. Mr. Guth was a man of great uprightness of character and was truly an honorable citizen, commanding the confidence and respect of all who knew him. He was a devout member of St. Eusebius Roman Catholic church of East Brady, where his remains were taken for the last sad rites before being conveyed to their last resting place in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery, Brady's Bend. Rev. Father McBride of Emlenton, in the absence of the deceased's pastor, officiated at the funeral. The deceased was also a member of the C.M.B.A. in which his insurance is $1,000. May he rest in peace. Source: Clarion Democrat, August 30, 1906.
