Jordan, 58, a mine operator of Piney, who was found shot to death Saturday night in a shanty near his mine 13 miles south of here.  Dr. Wellman said Jordan died of a bullet wound from a 16-gauge shotgun apparently fired from a distance of six to eight feet.      KIN KILLS COAL MINE OPERATOR—"Row" Ends Fatally for Calvin Jordan at Hands of Harry Guiste. CLARION - March 16 - A coroner's jury has decided that Calvin H. Jordan, operator of a small coal mine near Sligo, was killed Saturday night "by a shotgun in the hands of Harry Guiste," his brother-in-law.  The jury directed that Guiste be held without bail pending Grand Jury action. District Attorney, William Geary quoted Guiste as telling State Police he and Jordan had been drinking and "got into a row." Saying that the reason for the men's quarrel had not been determined, Geary expressed belief that Guiste "has not told all he knows."  The body of Jordan, 58, was found in a shanty which Guiste occupied near the mine. He was shot in the chest with a 16-gauge shotgun. Geary said the shooting was discovered when Guiste summoned a farmer to the mine, telling him there had been "trouble" there. Jordan, a resident of Piney Township, is survived by his wife. [Indiana Progress - March 16, 1943]
