Over, wife of Emanuel Over, died at her home in Callensburg, Clarion County, PA., April 9, 1894, aged 64 years, 2 months and 3 days. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of the Licking charge. She was confirmed March 30, 1850, by Rev. Jeremiah Fishburn, and was the first member confirmed in the congregation, standing alone to make her vows to the Lord, and continuing a most faithful and consistent member of the same till her death. Much of her lifetime she was a sufferer, and on a number of occasions here life was despaired of. To her pastor she said recently the "the Lord has helped me through many a severe sickness when no one thought I would live' but this is the last." Her sufferings wrought out for her "a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." When no longer able to sing she would repeat the hymn beginning "I love Thy Zion, Lord," and wonder why it was not sung more frequently. Then again she would repeat, "Rock of Ages." The former hymn expressed her love for the church; the latter, for her faith in the atoning merits of the blessed Redeemer. She was the mother of seven children, of whom the eldest daughter preceded her to that "rest which remaineth for the people of God." Having taken leave of the family, she pointed upward, being no longer able to speak. "Other refuge have I none Hangs my helpless soul on thee" expresses the faith in which she died. In the household she combined the traits of Martha and Mary, and whilst her Christian family is resigned to the will of the Lord, in taking her away, yet their sorrow is great. She was always ready to speak a good word for her pastor and take his part, thus holding up his hands, as Aaron and Hur held up the hands of Moses. "There never was a better neighbor," was said of her before her death. She was interred at Mt. Zion, April 11th, mourned by many relatives and friends, her pastor preaching the funeral discourse from Psalm XC l.
