Helen Laura Sedgwick, is to left of the lad seated on railing -- right behind her with face partially hidden is Iona (Dixon) Botzer-- to left of Iona is Maude (Miller) Shook. In row directly behind Maude, and farthest right is Mabel (Curll) McElravy, who was married to Wayne (DeWayne) McElravy, son of Bird and Margaret (Harriger) McElravy. The student standing right in front of the support post on left may be John Fetzer, who was in my mother's graduating class of 1927. John's home was south of Reidsburg. He later became a Methodist minister. Front row kneeling, third from left, may be Darl H. Callen.

Reunion - Sligo Class of 1929

   Members of the 1929 graduating class of Sligo High School held their 42nd reunion at the Holiday Inn, south of Clarion.

   The class colors of blue and gold predominated in the table decorations. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Edwin Dunkle, door; Charlotte Holmes, for traveling farthest, Clarence Thorne, first to make a reservation; Edwin Dunkle, for oldest grandchild; Sara [Shook] Harriger, for youngest grandchild.

   Clara [Over] Eaker, Melda Hogan and Charlotte Holmes were named to a committee to plan the next class reunion in September 1974.

   The committee for this year's reunion was Gladys Permut, Sara Harriger and Mildred McCall.

9/17/1971 Reunion Held by '56 Class

   SLIGO - The Sligo members of the 1956 graduating class of Union Joint held their first class reunion in 15 years at the Holiday Inn at Clarion.

   The floral arrangements were given as prizes during the program. Receiving awards were Mr. and Mrs. Darl Callen, longest distance; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Over, married the longest; and the first to send in reservations and also having the youngest child were Mr. and Mrs. Rayburn Lerch.

   White ceramic mugs with the year 1956 etched in green, signifying the class colors, were placed at each class member's plate. These were made for the occasion by Mrs. Madelyn Sherman.

   During the get-together hour, booklets containing information on each member were presented. Carolyn Motter offered grace and welcomed members and guests. After the dinner, she presented each member with a gift.

   Wesley Sherman read the class wills and prophecies bringing back many memories. Interest was showed in holding another reunion in two years. Mrs. Motter and Sherman were appointed to make the arrangements.

   Attending the reunion were Mr. and Mrs. Darl Callen, Atlanta, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ragley (Shirley Fagley), Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. James Ketner (Jean Heller), Sligo; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Over (Pat Heller) Sligo; Mr. and Mrs. Rayburn Lerch, New Bethlehem; Mr. and Mrs. Clair Motter (Carolyn McKinney), Cleveland, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Connell Gathers (Meda Belle McKinney), Sligo; Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Smith (Janet McKinney), Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kiser (Garnet Reed), Shippenville; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Sherman, Sligo; and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Shook, South Bend, Ind. BROWN SCHOOL 1937-1938

Description: Brown School was located in Monroe Township on road going from Reidsburg (Rt. 68 - between Clarion & Sligo) to New Bethlehem. It was about 2 miles from Reidsburg. My first grade teacher was Alice Henry (school year of 1939), who was getting up in years, and she lived in Reidsburg. She walked to and from her "job" each day, no matter what the weather was!
