Library resources include: family history files and publications by other researchers, census, county and local histories; cemetery and church records; birth, marriage, death, estate, tax, deeds, land surveys & warrants, and court records; passenger lists, naturalization records; military records; and newspapers. Membership includes discounted rates for research by their staff, on-site access to their collection of data, and subscription to the Laurel Messenger, their quarterly genealogical publication.

The goal of this organization is to foster and actively participate in the acquisition and preservation of personal property, buildings, sites, landmarks, documents, genealogical information, and other items of historical interest and aesthetic and social value; to foster interest in and appreciation for the history of the area and to encourage research in the same. The current project of this group is the relocation and restoration of the old B & O Passenger Station. The Society publishes a quarterly newsletter about the history of the people and places from around the Stoystown area. It you would like to receive this newsletter, you can become a member for $10.00 (individual) or $15.00 (family).
