V. L. Wood, watchmaker and partner in the Wood and Stone Jewelry Store, was born in Townville, April 20, 1869, the son of John and Sarah C. Himebaugh Wood.  He attended the public schools of Meadville and following that worked for a time in a planing and grist mill for W. T. Ladner, when he suffered an accident, in 1896.

In 1908 he purchased the Frank Raymond watch repair shop, located on the site of Park Theatre, and on September 4, 1911, formed the present partnership, moving to 967 Water Street.  

Mr. Wood married Marjorie L. Staffrord, of Meadville.  They have a son Wallace S. Wood, of Beaver Falls.  

He is a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
