WILLIAM M. WOODRUFF was born at Portage county, Ohio, May 30th, 1843. He received a common school education at his native place and a business training at Cleveland, Ohio. He removed to Union, Erie county, Pennsylvania, August, 1862, and to Meadville in 1864. Having learned telegraphing, he followed that as a profession from 1861 to 1872, since which he has been engaged in life insurance in Meadville. In 1865 he was drafted into the United States service and detailed to the telegraph service, but the war closing, he was discharged. He was married at Union, Pennsylvania, December 25th, 1866, to Jessie A. Wood.
