State of Pennsylvania, Crawford Co., SS.
John Boyle being duly sworn before me, William Cofee Prothonotary of Crawford County, doth say that he was born in Ireland and to the best of his information in the year 1806 and that he has selected the State of Pennsylvania as his place of residence, and further he saith, that it is his bona fide intention to become a citizen of these United States, and the State of Pennsylvania, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign prince, potenate, State of sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly Queen of Great Birtain.

Declaration and Intention to become a citizen:
I John Boyl a native of Ireland humbly sheweth, that on the 5th day of October A.D. 1857 he filed in the Court of Common Please of this county his Declaration and intention to become a citizen....
Crawford county, ss: I. H. Bright and Patrick Mullary being duly swon according to law, declare and say, that they have known the Petitioner, above seven years last past, during two years of which period he has resided in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.

John Boyl being duly swon in open court, according to law, doth depose and say, that the facts stated in the foregoing petition are correct and true: that he was resident of the United Sates on the 13th day of February A.D. 1847 that he has continued to reside within the same and for more than five years last past has resided int he Commonwealth of Pennsylvania: that he will suppor the Constitution of the U.S. and that he doth abolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fideilty to every foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly to the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland of whom he has heretofore been a subject.
