Other frequently asked questions about the obituary section.

Do you want a scanned image of the actual will or deed?  Yes, we can link to the text version of the document.

Can I send in just the scanned image and have someone there transcribe it?  Unfortunately, no, our staff is very limited.  We will help you though with the words that might be hard to figure out.  Here are some of those words that often show up in deeds

   hereditaments

   appurtenances

   hereunto

   perches

   aforesaid

   heretofore

Here's a good website on Deciphering Old Handwriting.  Click here.

Be sure to transcribe the will or deed exactly as it's written (misspellings included).  You can always make notations correcting information - names and dates at the bottom of the page.

How do I add a will or deed to the Crawford County USGenWeb site?

It's easy.  There's two ways you can do it.

Also, with Wills and Deeds, you can add them through the PA-Roots data boards.

Click here to go to the PA-Roots Wills board.

Click here to go to the PA-Roots Deeds board.

Or you can type the will, deed or pension in to an email and email it to me and I'll add it to the Crawford County site for you. Wills that were done this way are the ones with the blue-shaded border running down the side of the page.  Click here to see an example.

Either way, all wills and deeds are linked to from the Wills and Deeds section.  View the the section.
