Crawford
County.
There are three full
vocational schools (Townville, Spartansburg, and Conneautville) in
Crawford County in which the subjects of agriculture and home making are
required for the first two years, the work being optional the last two
years. In addition, there are two high schools (Cambridge Springs,
Linesville) in which vocational departments have been established the
subjects of agriculture and home making being optional during the entire
four-year period. The full vocational school is adapted to the rural high
school of the open country where practically every boy and girl is
interested in the subjects of agriculture and home making. The department,
on the other hand, is more adapted to the high school of the small town,
where the rural pupils of the surrounding districts are more particularly
interested in the vocational subjects. This statement is attested by the
history of the schools; the pupils of the rural community vocational
school electing the vocational work during the entire four-year period of
the High School.
In order to more perfectly
organize the vocational work on a county basis a County Vocational
Supervisor has been detailed to Crawford County. The County Vocational
Supervisor is attached to the office of the County Superintendent of
Schools. His work consists of (1) the supervision of the vocational
schools and departments of the County, (3) the establishment of vocational
classes in rural schools, and (3) the promotion of vocational education in
the County.
Enrollment.
The enrollment in the
vocational classes of the County is somewhat less than it was for the
previous year, yet it shows a recognized stability which speaks well for
the future. As a rule the enrollment in agriculture and in home making are
quite similar, the totals for the County being 134 in agriculture and 136
in home making. The enrollment in the County Vocational Supervisor’s
classes amounts to 71, making a total of 205 pupils In the County who are
receiving systematic Instruction in vocational agriculture.

conducted for the vocational pupils in connection with the Erie Fair, the
Conneaut Lake Fair and the Titusville Fair. From 30 to 50 boys
participated in each contest. Prizes ranging from $3 to $10 were awarded
to the successful contestants.
The teams were selected to
represent each of the schools in the Judging Contests at Harrisburg in
January and the prize money, amounting to $105, is presented with the
understanding that it will be used to help defray the expenses of the
trip. A special prize of $5 was presented to the boy winning the
