MEDIC GRAVELY ILL
The
condition of Dr. John W. Schmeiter, who is confined to his home, 213 West 8th
Street, following a heart attack he suffered Tuesday afternoon; was reported as
unchanged today. It was reported to be
serious. Dr. Schmeiter is one of

Otto Knablein returned to his duties today as clerk in Alderman Lyle Orr’s court after recovering from an infection in his foot.

Martha Carle Receives Strong Citation for her Standing
Annual commencement exercises were held for eighteen members of the
Hamot Hospital School for Nurses Friday night in
Miss Martha Carle, was the recipient of the Strong award, given by Miss Thora Ronalds in memory of her grandmother, Mrs. Anna Strong. Speakers included, Dr. A. B. Miller who delivered the graduating address; Dean Francis Blodgett, who discussed the early history of the school of nursing and A. W. Brevillier, president of the board of managers of the hospital, who presented the diplomas. Musical entertainment was furnished by Peter LeSueur on the organ and duet by Mrs. H. R. Spencer and Mrs. J. Hunter LeSueur.
Miss Anna Petersen, directories of nurses, presented the graduating pins. A reception, sponsored by the Hamot Aid society, was held at the Nurses’ home following the program. Serving on the arrangements committee were Mrs. Charles Fry, Mrs. Elmer Hess, Mrs. Maxwell Lick, Mrs. Robert French, Mrs. Ellis Knobloch, Mrs. Paul Root, Mrs. David Zahnhizer and Mrs. Edward C. Heal.
The following ladies were honored at the exercises: Dorothy Adams, Kane, Pa.; Mary Carnahan, Utica, N. Y.; Joy Douglas, Conneaut; Ebba Larson, Kane; Gertrude Lindstrom, Corry; Marjorie Stevens, Portland, Me.; Lorraine Rose, Spartansburg; Ruth Wilson, Beloit, Wis.; Martha Carle, Luella Chambers, Marion Cox, Gretchen Gladitz, Ardice LaGrange, Ann Schul, Harriet Steinford, Margaret Sterrett, Betty Turos, and Reindida Vickey, all of Erie.
