Salisbury bridge was the first in the Conneaut Township area to be built using arch planks as supports. Before Park Paul could build this bridge, however, there was a drawn-out legal battle over the property involved. After years of neglect and and the extreme conditions of Lake Erie weather, the bridge gave out in 1947. The last person to cross this bridge was L. R. Umburn. It was on his arrival home that he learned of the bridges collapse.
