The view in this photograph is looking west from the northwest corner of Main Street and Depot Road. The two-story frame house on the left (at the southwest corner of this main intersection in the Borough) had once been the residence of Dr. Francis Temple who was the grandfather of child actress Shirley Temple. Dr. Temple acquired the house in 1891 and lived there until his death in 1896. After his death, the house was sold to T. Woods Sterrett. The house burned in 1916 and was replaced by a brick house.
