This is a highway marker that was very near the site of the fort. It has been moved to the museum in Antes Fort.

Our Chapter

Fort Antes Chapter was organized November 14, 1908, at the home of Mrs. Julia Russell Harris on the corner of Allegheny and Broad Streets, in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. Fort Antes was selected as a suitable name because of the part that the nearby site played in the history of the frontier during the Revolution.

A constant objective of the chapter has been to keep alive the history and the tradition of this immediate locality. We hope that the present generation will always be made aware of our rich heritage which was bought at such a great cost and bloodshed of those earliest settlers in this valley. We also want to keep the fires of patriotism alive in all of us.

Fort Antes holds six monthly meetings. They are held at two area churches, the Samuel Moss House, and the Restaurant at the Jersey Shore Senior High School. We try to vary our meeting days and times to allow more members to attend.

September, October, and April - dinner meetings, Tuesday at 6p.m.
December - meeting, Tuesday at 7p.m.
February - luncheon, Saturday at noon
June - luncheon, Wednesday at noon

Our 100th Anniversary celebration, which took place on October 18, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore, was a great celebration.

Our 50 year members were presented with a 50-year pin.	Our past regents were recognized.
We had a refreshment table during our gathering time.	We had a table of scrapbooks and patriotic memorabilia set up for guests to browse.
The Fair Play Brass ensemble performed.	The Fair Play Men reenacted the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
