I am researching the MAGEE's

March 23, 1846 in Shade Gap, Hunt. Co. Pa., He died June 14, 1924 in
Orbisonia, Hunt. Co. Pa. He married Martha Jane NEWTON on Sep. 1, 1870.
She was the daughter of William H. NEWTON and Agnes APPLEBY. Willaim Left
PA. and went to Preble County Ohio, where he met and married Martha J.
NEWTON. Their 6 children were born in Israel Twp. Preble Co., Ohio:
1)William Alexander 2)Cora Agnes MAGEE(Locke) 3)Addie Catharine MAGEE,
Thomas MAGEE, Sarah Emma MAGEE(Locke), Mattie E. MAGEE. After Martha J.
NEWTON died Jan. 29, 1890, William MAGEE returned to PA. and then
remarried Elizabeth OSLER. I have pictures of this family and their
gravestones as well.
I am researching my family
history and have only been able to get to my great grandfather, John Leroy
Magill, with any significant information. John Leroy was born in Baxter,
Clover Township, Jefferson County, to William and May Moore Magill in 1879
and moved to DuBois, Cleafield County, in 1892 at the age of 13. He
eventually married Emma Dinger on 2/22/1900. He was a foreman at John E.
DuBois and Rockwell and a member of Lakeside Methodist Church. He died
3/22/1958 and she died 6/3/50. My grandfather was Earl Lance Magill, who
grew up in DuBois, went to Indiana (Pa.) University, taught in DuBois
schools for many years, and eventually became supervisor of Elementary
Education. He was married to Mabel Irwin. He died 11/10/1986. My
grandfather's brothers and sisters included Florence Kitchen, who married
S.R. Kitchen of Kitchen's Dairy. His brothers were Mike "Purl" Magill and
Allen Magill. His sisters were Helen and Winifred. My father is Earl Leroy
Magill. He attended DuBois schools and became a United Methodist Minister.
He graduated from DuBois High School in the late 1950s and is probably
best remembered there for his drumming abilities. If anyone has any
information on this family before my grandfather, I'd appreciate it. I'm
especially interested in info on my great great grandfather William, who
it would seem moved to DuBois in 1892 when my great grandfather John Leroy
was 13 years old. I would especially like to hear from anyone who might
know where my great great grandfather William was buried. Thank you in

Isaac MARTZ and Carrie
Jeannette MAGILL. Isaac was born at McAlevey Fort, Huntingdon Co. and I
think Carrie was born in Jackson Twp, Huntingdon Co. They were married in
Petersburg, Huntingdon Co. They had three children: Myrtle, H. Faye, and
Ellenore. They also raised my grandmother Elizabeth Pearl MARTZ. Pearl's
mother died due to childbirth complications and was given to Carrie, her
aunt. Carrie was born March 28, 1878 and died June 6, 1964 in Hanover, PA.
Pearl was born March 25, 1903. >From a soundex card, I know that John and
Lydia MAGILL lived in Jackson Twp in 1880. They had two daughters, Carrie
and Agnes. By the ages, John MAGILL would have been born approximately in
1851 and his wife Lydia in 1852. At some point, I believe Isaac and Carrie
moved to Mifflin Co. Pearl Martz married John Sherman STEELE in 1918. They
moved from Mifflin Co to Huntingdon (city) about 1931-32 and lived there
until they died: Sherman in 1974 and Pearl in 1989. I would like to know
more about the MAGILL, MARTZ, and STEELE families.

Am looking for information on
the families of Isaac MARTZ and Carrie Jeannette MAGILL. Isaac was born at
McAlevey Fort, Huntingdon Co. and I think Carrie was born in Jackson Twp,
Huntingdon. They were married in the early 1900's in Petersburg,
Huntingdon Co. They had three children: Myrtle, H. Faye, and Ellenore.
They also raised my grandmother Elizabeth Pearl MARTZ. Pearl's mother died
due to childbirth complications and was given to Carrie, her aunt. Carrie

buried in Gettysburg. I think Pearl's mother was Sarah Agnes MAGILL(b Jan
20, 1880; d Apr 8, 1903). I have no information on Pearl's father. Family
story is that he was young and not prepared for the responsibility and
went West, never to be heard from. Pearl was born March 25, 1903. From a
soundex card, I know that John and Lydia Magill lived in Jackson Twp in
1880. They had two daughters, Carrie and Agnes. By the ages, John MAGILL
would have been born approximately in 1851 and his wife Lydia in 1852. At
some point, I believe Isaac and Carrie moved to Mifflin Co. as I think
Pearl, my grandmother, attended school in Mifflin. She was a student of my
grandfather, John Sherman STEELE. They married when Pearl was 15. Sherman
was born in Alfarada, Mifflin County. My mother, Gladys STEELE, was born
in Union Twp, Mifflin County. I am making an assumption that my
grandfather taught school in Mifflin from the fact that he was born there,
and after marrying, his first child was born there. I would like to know
more about the MAGILL, MARTZ, and STEELE families.

I am in possession of
an old Bible. It is signed as being owned by Robert McNEAL. Below
his name is written "Clinton Co., Indiana". Sure enough, I find a Robert
McNEAL in the 1860 census with wife(?) Susan in Clinton Co., IN. But at
the back of the Bible are several inscriptions which give me the
impression this Bible was presented to MY ancestor Robert McNEAL who
lived in Huntingdon Co., PA, and was NEVER, to my knowledge, in
Clinton Co. This Bible passed down in descendants of the Huntingdon Co.
Robert who was at least 20 years younger than the one in Indiana. Since I
know the Indiana Robert is not mine, WHO IS HE? And what were my
ancestor's descendants doing with a Bible that had "Clinton Co., IN"
written in it? In 1850 the Robert McNEAL of Indiana was living unmarried
with a JEFFERIES family. I know that my ancestor Robert had a great aunt
who married into the JEFFERS or JEFFERIS family (spelling from the 1897
BIOGRAPHICAL COMMEMORATIVE OF JUNIATA VALLEY). Could this indicate that
the Robert of Indiana was from Huntingdon Co.? All the census says is PA
for place of birth. Can anyone help with more McNEAL downlines from this
Huntingdon Co. family???

Looking for the parents of
Elizabeth POSTEN (POSTE, POSTEY) born in 1827 in Pa. probably
Huntingdon or Northampton Co. She married Jacob M. WISE 1-15-1846 in
Huntingdon Co.(she was from Hares Valley, Cass Twp. and he was from
Allensville, Mifflin Co.) She died in 1898 in Cumberland, Allegany Co.,
Md. Was buried in Rose Hill Cem., Cumberland. The only Postens I've found
in Huntingdon Co.(1820-60 census) so far are Cornelius, William, James,
John and Jacob, the latter could possibly be her father. The only other
Postens in Pa. were in Norhampton / Monroe Co. I'd love to talk to anyone
who has any information on any POSTEN, POSTE or POSTEY. There were so few
in Pa. that they must connect somewhere. Thanks for your help.
