Surnames...RODDY..SEIBERT are my Altoona connection. Samuel W. Roddy married May Etta Seibert somewhere between Altoona & Shade Gap, Huntingdon Co. PA. They were married abt.1865. They migrated toward Altoona...Bellefonte. Somewhere in the migration to find a new life they settled down between Shade Gap and Blair..Centre..Clinton Counties to have the family. It has been told me that my father, 3d child, was born in Altoona, January 23 1888. I have written for certificates..but they say the Courthouse burned down & there is no other way to estabilish his birth. His name was David Wesley Roddy...he had an elder brother, Robert Russell Roddy, an older sister, Olive T. Roddy, and a younger sister, Mary E. Roddy But I cannot establish a certificate for any of them. But do know that Robert was born in Bellefonte.Please help me find out what happened to them after they were married and left Shade Gap?? SHAVER, William born 1792 in Huntingdon County, PA. Married Elizabeth (?) born 1800 in Chester County PA. Married in PA in 1817. They moved to Ohio where several children were born. Moved to Iowa late 1830's. Wlliam's nephew Jacob SHAVER, his wife Louise wife and children also accompanied William's family. About 1841, the two families pioneered in the area newly opened Southwest or West of the Blackhawk Territory also in Iowa where they were the first two non-indian families there. About 1843 or 1844 both heads of household died of plague (probably flu). When children were older about 1851 / 2, Elizabeth and her children (some of whom were already married) packed up and came to Oregon where they filed donation land claims. Seeking William's parents and siblings in Huntindgon County, marriage verification to identify Elizabeth's maiden name and parents. Obituary for William may may have been in Iowa and Pennsylvania newspapers.

They had several children, one being Amanda Belle STEVENS b. 1854. I am trying to learn what I can about Amanda Bell, she is my g grandmother. I know she married J. Frank BLAIR in the 1870s.
