I have reason to believe that Lubov SWALLOW was the sister of my paternal grandmother Mary WANDZILAK STUPINSKI. Lubov SWALLOW was born in Galicia and at the time of the 1920 census lived in Olyphant with a 12 year old son, Alexander. If anyone can shed light on this SWALLOW family for me I would be appreciative. Mike

Am seeking descendants of Jane Rees, who emmigrated to Scranton PA. She left Liverpool on SS Majestic 21/7/1897 and arrived Ellis Island 28/7/1897. Ship's manifest shows she was going to stay with her Uncles Thomas Rees and Benjamin Rees who were living Scranton PA. Jane's birth certificate shows her born 31/8/1879 as Margaret Jane Rees, her parents were David Rees and Ann Thomas of Gilfach Goch, Llantrisant, Nr. Pontyprydd, South Wales. Thomas Rees was born 1847 and Benjamin was born 1853 in Cwmgrach, Nr.Neath, South Wales. Their parents were John Rees and Jane Davies. They were miners. Jane married, and my father-in-law says that Sherman was in her husbands name but can't remember if this was christian name or surname. Jane's son served during WW2 and we believe he was in USA air force as he was stationed in South Wales at a place called Stormy Down, Nr. Pyle, Nr Bridgend. He visited his Uncle, Jane's brother Rees Rees in Water Street, Neath. Jane's family sent food! parcels to Rees in Wales. Any information o this family would be much appreciated.

THOMAS WILLIAMS was my great grandfather. He was born in Wales, 15 August, 1868 (or 65.) He married Mary Ann LEYSHON in Plains 5 April, 1893. In 1915, Mary Ann was put in the Retreat Hospital in Newport, and died there in 1956. Thomas is said to have died in Taylor in 1936. A search of this website failed to produce a burial record, or any other record of him. As a common name, I've not been able to get a death certificate of him out of New Castle. I do not know his parentage, so any information on him would be greatly appreciated.

Surnames: MCGUILL, SWEENEY
Researcher: Tom Fitzsimmons

Date posted: Saturday, April 6, 2002

Looking for any trace of Mary MCGUILL, probably born about August 1852 in "Dundalk, County Armagh" who at age 19 in 1871 or 1872 emigrated to America and lived in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. She married Mark SWEENEY in Scranton in 1876. Mark was born in 1856 in Wilmore, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. Mary and Mark moved to Chickasaw County, Iowa and lived in New Hampton until Mary's death in 1934. I am aware that Dundalk is actually in County Louth, but it may be that Mary was born in County Armagh, close to Dundalk (it is only a few miles from the border between Louth and Armagh).

Date posted: Sunday, April 7, 2002

WAIT CANNON and his wife S.J. came to Wilkes Barre somewhere around 1840 from Cannonsville, NY. In about 1845, he operated an early hotel in the area of Blakely which became Archbald, just as the D&H Gravity Railroad started to offer service there. They had 3 or 4 children: Antoinette (my g.g. grandmother), Benjamin, Charles (possibly) and one more. The 1850 census shows him in Archbald. The 1860 census shows him in Archbald. He died in 1868, and the 1870 census shows S.J. in Madison Township, probably residing with their son, Benjamin. She died in 1880, and both are buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, in Dunmore. For my link, Antoinette married Josiah Dimmick. Their son Edward married Mary E. Connell, and their daughter married my grandfather Van Deusen, and so forth. I'm curious to find out more about WAIT and S.J. CANNON and their Cannon family in PA and NY. It's difficult to go back to Cannonsville, NY for information because it's now at the bottom of the Cannonsville Reservoir. Thank you.

I am looking for any records on the Pfoor family. They resided in Jermyn Pa and Archbald, PA. Keith Pfoor was born on 18 Oct 1911 and passed away in April 1980. His wife Margerat Pfoor, my Grandmother, just passed away last month at the age of 91. Looking for any type of birth records to trace the family history. Ithink that there is some descrepany in the spelling of the last name when entering the country - it's either Pforr of Pfoor. Looking to try to find out where in Germany they came from. I beleive that John Pfoor came to the US in 1854 - and was married to Sofie Linderman. They had a child named Herman Pfoor who had a son Keith Pfoor. But I cant find any records.
