The death of John
L. Thompson, aged 72 years, occurred Saturday night at the family
home 563 East Long Avenue following a long illness. He was born in Pulaski
township and was a son of David and Elizabeth Love
Thompson, old residents of that place. He was a member of the G.A.R.
and was a Civil war veteran, being a private in Captain Cook's company,
Co. G, 78th regiment. He was widely and favorably known and the news of
his death will cause sorrow to a large circle of friends. He is survived
by his widow and the following children, Mrs. F.A.
Crowe of Cambridge Springs, Mrs. A.C.
Patterson of Brownsville, H.J. Thompson, C.R,
Thompson, Mrs. R.E. Francis and Miss Florence
Thompson of this city. Two brothers and two sisters, J.H.
Thompson, Plumber Thompson, Mrs. W.R. Hays and Mrs. Adeline Thompson all
of Wilmington township, also survive.
Interment was made in Oak
Park Cemetery.
