About Us

Meetings & Programs
The Montour County Genealogical Society was founded in September 1999.  We are a group of volunteers dedicated to the collection and preservation of information about families, past and present, of Montour County and to helping its families obtain the information they need to document their family heritage.   Meetings are held quarterly, in March, June, September and December.  Unless otherwise noted, all MCGS meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of these months at The Meadows Community Building adjacent to Maria Joseph Manor, Danville.  A business meeting for members will begin at 6:30 followed by a program open to the public at 7:00 PM.  Our current meeting and program schedule is listed below.  For a look at past programs, click here.

Membership
Dues for 2009 are $15.00 individual and $25.00 per family.  Advantages of membership include quarterly newsletters, free query listing in newsletters, reduced copying fees, free access to research materials in the genealogy room, advance notification of upcoming events and, of course, networking among those with Montour County roots.  For membership information, contact our membership secretary, Sue Messersmith.   Click here for a printable membership application.

Research Library
The Montour County Genealogical Society's Genealogy Room is located on the second floor of the Thomas Beaver Free Library in Danville.  Our almost ten years of progress are reflected in a growing collection of genealogical resource materials.  Click here for further information.
