Now Available!!
Since its inception in 1993, the Images of America series from Arcadia Publishing has preserved
and shared the history of hundreds of individual communities throughout the country.
Each title records a community’s unique story through hundreds of historic images. Due to the popularity of this series,
it has expanded over time to include worthy local and regional historical topics including the examination and celebration of transportation,
industry, architecture, ethnic groups and more.
Now, through the cooperation of the Mifflin County Historical Society and author Forest K. Fisher, Arcadia Publishing has produced
this special pictorial look at Mifflin County history.
Over two-hundred vintage images and photographs were used in the book, many never-before-published.
Scores of images from the Mifflin County Historical Society photographic archives were used,
as were real photo-postcards shared by several local collectors, including many from the Ernest Solt collection and also from the James R. Fosselman collection.
Each and every image has an extensive caption illuminating the topic and adding interest to the photograph.
The 127 page publication also contains an introduction, index and bibliography.
This book allows the experienced historian and novice alike to take a quick tour of Mifflin County’s expansive history.
From the county’s seat of government to many small villages and communities, Mifflin County is a glimpse into the colorful history
of this county in central Pennsylvania.
