THE McCOY FAMILY PARLOR is actually a double room separated by extra
wide doors from the McCoy Memorabilia Room. The room features original
family furnishings. The marble fireplace matches the one in the
adjoining room. Over the mantle is a portrait of Jane Witherow Ross,
maternal grandmother of General Frank Ross McCoy. A Bible concordance,
open on the table, records "bought 1872, T. F. McCoy." Also
recorded are his marriage to Margaret Eleanor Ross and the births of
seven children, including twins who died within a month of their births.
Other pages document family marriages and deaths.
The McCoy furnishings are typical of the Victorian period and includes
the elegant sofa, with open carvings on the crest. The side chairs,
tables and decorative accessories impress the visitor that this was the
family s home.
Photographs in a case in the adjoining room show the mother seated at
the table in the parlor and the two sisters nearby on an Empire Sofa.
