FREEMAN:
I am seeking information on my wife's great grandfather, Arthur O.
Freeman.  He was murdered in Limestone, New York, in 1910.  A
transcription of his obituary in the Cameron County Press (dated
Thursday July 14 1910) says he "leaves a widow, nee Kathryn Raszman, of  Shippen, and a daughter Helen".  Arthur was still living at the time of the 1910 census, but he was enumerated with his parents Eldred and Martha FREEMAN in Norwich, McKean County, Pennsylvania -- and, curiously, he is listed with "S" under "marital status", which was supposed to indicate that he was single.  Kathryn FREEMAN and daughter Helen were enumerated twice:  once with Kathryn's parents Henry and Lena  RASZMANN in Portage, Cameron County, Pennsylvania; and once with Kathryn's brother William RASZMANN in Emporium East Ward, Cameron
County, Pennsylvania.  In both cases, her marital status is given as M1, 4 (meaning, in her first marriage for four years).  There is some
suggestion from family tradition that there were problems in the
marriage, and the census would seem to support this.  Interestingly,
when Kathryn lived with her brother, a next door neighbor was Charles BARTON -- who I believe was kin to Martha BARTON, wife of Eldred FREEMAN and mother of Arthur.

Any information on Arthur or his family would be appreciated, but I am
especially interested in proving the marriage between Arthur and Kathryn.

Thank you.

(EVERETT,ROBERTS) I am looking for any information on my g g grandparrents. Mary was born in PA around 1838, and Edward was born in MA, year unknown. They had at least 3 known children: Stephen b. around 1862,
a daughter name and birth date unknown and Edward Jr, born 1881. We think the first two children may have been from a
first marriage of Mary's, but that is pure speculation due to the 20 year difference between Stephen and Edward, as well as the older age of Mary at the birth of Edward. Edward Jr. was born in PA and married Sadie Oneil in either Ceres or Genesee and they lived in Shinglehouse and Eldred areas. They had children: Eric, Charles Ulrich, Neil, Wayne, and Marion. The children and Edward were in Texas in 1920 and in WA by 1928. If you have any information, or are related to this family in any way and would like the family history I have compiled so far please email me at:

(FICHTNER) I'm working on my family tree and any information you might have would be very helpful. My Grandmother in law Minnie Fichtner lived in Gates Hollow, PA where she died on Jan 27, 1941. I believe she is a relative of Charles Fichtner that lived on Leonard Run, (1937 phone listings) in Limestone, NY. I am interested in any of the Fichtner's that live in that area during the late 1800's to the 1960's. Any information would be very helpful.

I am attempting to locate information regarding the death of my Great Great Grandfather, Charles Carlin, who resided in Kane when the 1910 census was recorded, along with his wife Mae (spelling?), but niether appear anywhere in the 1920 Census, we believe that they passed during that timeframe. Charles was born in 1850, was Irish, involved with the Teamsters in one manner or another, and may well have been involved in general construction, or at the glass works.

Benjamin Harten, a native of Delaware, married a Sarah E (maiden name unknown), she was a native of Maine, and had one son John Frank Harten. Benjamin Harten was an oil producer from about 1880 to 1910 when his son John Frank Harten took over the business.

A. J. Robertson, died October 27, 1921. I'm trying to find information on my great great great uncle; who was an uncle to my Great-grandfather, Charles W. Bird. Mr. Robertson was born on October 19, 1844 in McKean County, PA. He Married Clarinda (maiden name unknown). They had a son named: Fred Robertson. Civil War Records shows; A. J. Robertson enlisted at Bradford, PA on October 4, 1862 as a Private in Co. E 58th Regt. PVI. Mr. Robertson's is the only link I have into finding my g-grandfather's given name and ancestors. Mr. Bird, changed his name when he moved west, settling in Lyons, CO (1886). On December 2, 1891, he married Emma Caroline Smead Godard Bird and remained in CO until his death on February 19, 1947.

Hello: I'm trying to locate my Martin relatives from around 1880 until 1914. My grandmother, Olive, was born March 6, 1882 in Knapp Creek, New York as was her brother Herbert (Nov 6, 1887) and Henry B. Jr. (April 7, 1890). Her sister Dora was born in Pennsylvania in 1880. My great-grandfather's name was Henry Bristol Martin, listed on the 1900 census in Buffalo, N.Y. as an "oil producer". He was married to Flora Kittell in ?. Henry Bristol Martin was born June 8, 1857 in New York and his wife Flora was born in 1860 - also in New York.

Flora Kittell Martin allegedly died on Sept 28, 1914 in Duke Center. Perhaps there was an obituary in the Duke Center or Bradford paper. Her husband, Henry Bristol Martin, died in 1909 in ?.

I have letters to my grandmother, Olive, dated 1904 addressed to Duke Center. Also, her mother Flora allegedly died in Duke Center in 1914 even though she's listed in the 1910 census as living at 605 Bird Ave, Buffalo, N.Y. Did Flora have a residence or relative in Duke Center?
I also have pictures of an oil well in a rural setting with perhaps my great-grandfather Henry Bristol Martin standing beside it (wood derrick).
Because of the proximity of Knapp Creek, N.Y. to Duke Center, the family could have lived very close to the state line. For this reason, I have also made an inquiry to Cattaraugus County, New York.
Do you have any information about this family? I'd be glad to reimburse you for any expenses involved.
Thanks in advance.

We find Byron (age 62, day laborer, born Mar. 1838), and wife "Cletiss" [I think, but it's pretty darn close to "Calista"], (age 56, born Oct. 1843).
Living next door is Bert Crooks (age 26, teamster, born May 1874) [probably his son Albert as the age fits], and wife Anna (age 18, born Nov. 1881).
Also living next door is George Waldron (age 24, day laborer, born Oct. 1875), wife Vinnie (age 24, born Aug. 1875) and Emma Frink (age 13, born Mar. 1887, adopted).
Living next door to the Waldrons is Byron's son Bradford (age 33, born Apr. 1867, day laborer), wife Marion (age 27, born Feb. 1873), and daughters Bessie? (age 8) & Ella (age 6), and sons George (age 3) & Paul (age 1).

We next find Byron in the 1910 US Census in Bradford Ward 6, McKean, PA
Byron, age 71, born in NY, mother's birthplace: NY, father's birthplace: VT, relation to head of household: father-in-law; along with Calista, age 66.
He's living with George Waldron & what appears to be his wife, Vinnie, both age 33. There is also George's son Paul, age 7, and daughter Etta, age 3.

(KOHLER, WANDA, KUNKLE, KUNKEL, LAMPKA, HALL, BYER)
My interest in McKean County is the family of Joseph and Sophia KOHLER
WANDA. They were married 1 Jan 1899 in Sartwell.  Joseph born about 1861,
Sophia about 1863, both reportedly in Germany. I have the family in Eldred
in 1900 census; by 1910 they had moved to Jamestown, N.Y. Children are:
Martha (b 1899), Bertha (1891), Josephine (1893), Helen (1894), Joseph
(1898), and Elizabeth (1902).

Also interested in: Leo and Nellie WANDA, Joseph and Grace KUNKLE (KUNKEL),
same time frame.

I suspect but haven't proved that Mary HALL, a shopkeeper in Eldred, is
Joseph WANDA's sister.  I have her census listings for 1900-1920 but looking
for family connection. She's married to Hiram Hall, but one listing shows an
apparent daughter, Katherina LAMPKA.

Finally, Joseph WANDA's obituary mentions another sister, Mrs. Peter BYER.
No other information.
Does anyone tie into any of these lines?  I'd love to hear from you.

His parents were William Martin (b May 1843 Bath, Montgomery, New York) and Martha Wallace (b 10 Dec 1852 in Avoca, Steuben, New York). According to my records, William Martin and family lived many years in Avoca New York before moving to Michigan. I was not aware until recently that they lived in Bradford as they show up on the Federal censuses – 1870 and 1880 – as living in Avoca.
I am looking for birth records for 1871 +/- 3 years?
and information on the William Wallace Martin family?

Thanking you in advance for any information that you can provide me in my genealogy research.
