GEORGE
W. McCLINTIC
The subject of this sketch was born in Mifflin
county, this State, in the year 1822. He passed his youth on a farm, and
subsequently followed the same occupation. In the year 1843, he married
a Miss Curry, whose parents then lived in Ireland. The following year he
removed to Sharon, this county, a stranger in a strange land. At this
time he met a misfortune of a very severe nature, losing, by misplaced
confidence, every dollar of his hard earned savings. Added to this
affliction was another, a sore bereavement, the death of his wife. She
was taken away from his home the same year. Subsequently he married Miss
McRay, which union has been crowned by a family of ten children. By
diligent industry and economy, he again accumulated some means, with
which, in the year 1856, he purchased the farm property on which he now
resides. This farm, to-day, with its surroundings, is one of the finest
in Western Pennsylvania.
