M. Henry Staunton
is the son of William and Mary (Evans) Staunton, natives of England, who
settled in Allegheny City in 1818. Our subject was born September 23,
1831, in Allegheny City and received his education in the public schools
of that city. He early engaged as a clerk in a drug store, and
subsequently engaged in that business for himself, conduction stores in
New Castle, Sharon and Wheatland. In 1854 he married Miss Teresa,
daughter of Isaac and Nancy (Quinby) DeForest, and by this marriage they
have six children: Teresa, Isaac D., Harry L., Adoniram, May and Birdie.
In 1882 he bought the farm of his father-in-law, and since that time has
been engaged in farming.
