A. WINTERBURN. - -
Among the residents of Sharon conspicuous for their ability and worth is Ralph
A. Winterburn, widely known as the secretary of the Sharon Steel
Hoop Company, one of the foremost industrial organizations of Mercer
county. He was born, August 21. 1875, in Pittsburg. Pennsylvania, a son of
William H. and Mary C. (Fischer) Winterburn.
His parents were both natives of Pennsylvania, his father being of English
descent, while his mother was of German ancestry.
The son of a
contractor in Pittsburg, Ralph A. Winterburn
was brought up and educated in that city. After graduated from Pittsburg
high school he was first employed as a bookkeeper. He was afterwards
associated with the American Steel Hoop Company, being employed in the
cost department in its general office in New York City. In 1900 Mr.
Winterburn came with the Sharon Steel Hoop Company to Sharon, and
has since served as its secretary, filling the position with credit to
himself and to the satisfaction of all concerned.
On June 27, 1900, Mr.
Winterburn married Lottie G. Liebtag,
of Pittsburg, and their home is most pleasant and attractive. Fraternally,
Mr. Winterburn is a member of the Ancient
Free and Accepted Masons, and, religiously, both he and his wife are
members of the Presbyterian church.
