Collins
Surnames: BROSKO,
COLLINS
My grandfather, Israel COLLINS , b. in Hungary I believe,
came to Farrell from Pittsburgh, PA in the early 1900s. He worked at
one time for Westinghouse Electric and also had a grocery store on Idaho
Street. I can still visualize his name in tiffanny glass "I.
Collins" over the entrance hall to the stairs to the family quarters
when they lived upstairs over the store. My uncle Meyer, his son , also
had a drug store on Idaho Street. One of the tenants in his building
was Joe BROSKO who I believe was an alderman and ran a small
court room in one of my grandfather's stores. In addition to uncle
Meyer, the rest of the family consisted of my father, Maurice, and sisters,
Belle and Rose. From the family graves in the Farrell cemetery, I note
the following dates: Israel, b. l872, d. l930; Sarah, his wife, b. l877, d.
1931; Maurice, my dad, b. 1895, d. 1936; Meyer, b. l897, d. l968. I
will appreciate any help on my COLLINS family history.
