Jan 11, 1809 in SCOT, d. in Greenville, Mercer Co., PA.  Children: Elmer Root, Mary Malinda, Malifa Statira, Ulysses Banning, Clara Malinda, Caroline, Daniel H., Silas, Sylvester C., Emma, and Charles H.  Any descendants of this McDOWELL family out there?  Thanks!

Looking for info. on Dennistontown in Mercer Co.?  I have DENNISTON roots.  Johnston DENNISTON was b. abt 1804 in Mercer Co., PA and moved on to OH and eventually IA.  I have no parents listed at all for him.  I have also found Samuel DENNISTON, b. May 29, 1779 in fort near Dennistontown, PA.  He d. Mar 12, 1844 in Pittsburg, PA.  His wife, Rebecca BROWN CAMPBELL, was b. Sep 15, 1784 in Black Lick Creek, Dennistontown, PA.  I am wondering if there is a connection.

BORLAND, dau. of Houston BORLAND of Mercer Co., PA.  They had a dau., Ella Margaret, and son, John Houston (my grandfather), before moving to York, NE in summer or fall of 1870.  Need help proving this and finding Archibald's ancestors.

Elizabeth NELSON, b. 1746 in ENG, d. 23 Nov 1816 in Mercer Co., PA.  Their children: Robert, James, Anna, Margaret, Samuel, and William.  They were also in Huntingdon Co., PA.  James GLENN, b. 6 Jun 1774, d. 6 Jan 1853, m. abt 1796 to Elizabeth CUNNINGHAM, dau. of Charles CUNNINGHAM and Margaret EVANS.  Children of James and Elizabeth: John, James, Alexander, Elizabeth, Polly, and Jane.  James GLENN, b. 16 Jun 1805, m. Elizabeth WILLIAMS, dau. of Jonathon WILLIAMS.  James and Elizabeth had a dau. Mary GLENN, b. 1829, d. 1910,  m. Jacob BOOK, son of Peter and Margaret BOOK.  The above families were in Mercer and Lawrence Cos. and were part of Slippery Rock and Plain Grove Presbyterian Churches.

Seeking data on David and Elijah DAVIS who came to Mercer Co. abt 1829.  They are father and son.  Davis d. bef 1840 and Elijah d. 1846.  Also seeking descendants of Elliott and Caroline DAVIS.  Elliott was b. in Venango Co., PA.  Known children are Frederick and Jacob.  Elliott left a will in 1870 and appears on the mortality schedule of 1870 in Mercer Co.  Cannot find on 1860 census.

Hance WOODS, Irish immigrant of about 1804, d. in Wilkins Twp., Allegheny Co., PA.  His wife was Jane McCRACKEN who d. there in the 1820s.  Their son, James WOODS, b. ca 1805, d. 1892, m. 2 Dec 1830 in Pittsburgh to Nancy SMITH, and they moved soon thereafter to Mercer Co.  They were there until about 1849 when they moved to Waukesha Co., WI.  This WOODS family was Reformed Presbyterian, and went to northeastern IA, then southwestern IA at Page Co., and one branch, James and Margaret DOUGHERTY WOODS went west to CA and OR in 1883.

John W. DOUGHERTY, b. abt 1814 in Belmont Co., OH, m. 1839 in Newton Falls, OH to Phoebe Ann COMSTOCK.  Their first child Andrew was b. in OH.  Then b. in Mercer Co., PA were: Sarah Fruit DOUGHERTY, b. 1841 at Delaware; Margaret Jane DOUGHERTY, b. 1843; infant son, b. 1848, d. 1848; infant dau., b. 1846, d. 1847; Mary Helen and Elizabeth Hannah DOUGHERTY, twins, b. 1849.  Then the family went to Dubuque Co., IA where Abel Comstock DOUGHERTY was b. abt 1852 and David Young DOUGHERTY was b. abt 1854.  Seek census and church records for this family while in Mercer Co., and perhaps the gravestones of the two infants.  Margaret Jane DOUGHERTY m. 1863 in Dubuque Co., IA to James WOODS.

Please shed some light on this subject, if possible.  My paternal grandparents were James WISE and Lucetta DONNER WISE, who, I have been informed, originated in the Mercer Co., PA area before moving to Mahoning Co., OH.  Apparently there is a street, road, or avenue named after the WISEs in the Sharon or Hermitage area, but I am just getting started looking into my family's history, and could use all the help and direction I can get.  Thank you for whatever advice/info. anyone may be able to provide.

Samuel BUSH, mid-1800s lived near the Tionasta Creek nearly opposite the Blues Narrows about two miles from Nebraska.  I need to know what township Nebraska is in.  William BUSH was b. Aug. 22 ,1852 in Old Town Flats, Mercer Co., PA.  I need to know what township Old Town Flats is in.  Albert Parker NOBLES, b. 13 Nov 1857.  The NOBLES left Nebraska by covered wagon around 1877 traveling to around South Dayton, NY or Sugar Grove, PA.  Any info. on Albert Parker NOBLES would be appreciated.  But again, where is Nebraska?
