Jankowski
Surnames: NORTHCOTE,
UREY
In Grove City, was the road and dam around North Street changed very
much? A cousin, Richard D. UREY, age 5, drowned there
on Jan 26, 1938 in the lake formed from Wolf Creek. Trying to locate it
on a map. Also trying to locate what property was farmed by Thomas
NORTHCOTE in the late 1800s. Believe it to be
northeast of Millbrook. The extended family has had a lot of history in
this particular area of PA and Center Co., PA. Some have dribbled over
into eastern OH, Trumbull and Mahoning Cos. Living in CO and being
medically restricted from much travel, I am very grateful for all the help I
have had from the good folks of this area. Would very much like to hear
from anybody that thinks they may have even a remote tie to my surnames (see
surnames/index page).

Nelson + Homepage
Surnames: CLARK,
McCORD
I am searching for info. on Rosannah CLARK of Pymatuning
Twp., Mercer Co., PA, m. Oct 1813 to the widower Robert
McCORD of Pymatuning Twp., Mercer Co., PA. While she
is listed as Mrs. in the newspaper account, we have yet to find a husband she
lost, so the Mrs. might be a misprint. She was b. est. between
1780-1790 and was in her late 20's or early 30's at the time of this
marriage. There has been some thinking that she might be the dau. of
Henry CLARK of Pymatuning Twp. She could also be
the widow of a CLARK who would have d. bef 1813 leaving no
children as she brought none with her to the marriage.

Surnames: JOHNSTON-JOHNSON,
JONES
Richard JOHNSTON (JOHNSON), b. 1793, d.
1875, enlisted in the War of 1812 from New Castle, Mercer Co., PA. At
this time, he was learning the hatters trade from Isaac
JONES when Isaac was drafted and Richard took his
place. He served on board the "Lawrence" with Adm. Perry
during the Battle of Lake Erie. He later deserted from the Marine Corps
and was thrown into the Mercer Co. jail. He was released the next day
by way of a Writ (in his pension records he stated it was his father who
arranged his release) on account of him being a "minor". I am
looking for Richard's family who apparently lived in Mercer Co. The
father was probably named John or Thomas and was reputed to be a school
teacher. I think Richard may have resided around New Castle for a few
years after the war and may have been married there, only to leave his
unfaithful wife and relocate in OH. He lived Jefferson Co., then Athens
Co., and finally to Hocking Co., OH.
