birth for Dorothy Elizabeth McQUISTON, b. May 1846 in PA, d.
aft 1900 in AR, and her husband, Edward EDWARDS, b. in Wales
or England, moved to PA where he was a railroad engineer, d. Jan 1883 in a
train accident. Dorothy was 7 months pregnant with their child at the
time of the accident and she moved to KS with her 3 brothers. One
brother was Joseph, b. 1860 in PA. Dorothy and Joseph's parents were b.
in PA too. I believe that the train accident on Jan 8, 1883 in Chester
Co., PA was the one which killed Edward, but I need more proof, such as
newspaper accounts. Dorothy gave birth in KS to a dau., May Florence
EDWARDS, b. Apr 4, 1883. May m. Calvin Leroy
VAUGHAN and lived in Madison Co., AR. Near her was her
uncle, Joseph, and his family. Dorothy lived in AR too and never

BESTWICK. On the 1850 census for Coolspring Twp.,
Mercer Co., PA, the following info. is given: BESTWICK John,
age 33; Ann, age 28; Thomas, age 8; Mary, age 7; Sarah, age 5; and Moses, age
1/12. I know that Thomas served in the Civil War and m. 1866 to Mary J.
McEWEN. They had 8 children, 6 boys, 2 girls: John,
Charles, George, Thomas, Bert, Lester, Anna, and Jennie. I would like
to know what happened to the rest of the family and if there are still
descendants in this area. I am connected through the
GADSBY side. I also have a copy of a letter that
Thomas BESTWICK sent to Thomas GADSBY in
1862 if anyone is interested.
Also looking for info. on Harriet GADSBY, b. 1835 in
Mercer Co., PA, m. Samuel STRAIN. The 1870 census
shows them in Irwin Twp., Venango Co., PA with the following children: Mary
Elizabeth, age 10; Frances, age 8; Jane, age 6; Ulysses Grant, age 5; and
Letha Viola, age 2. I would like to contact descendants and find out if
there are any still in the area. My connection is through the
GADSBY line.

I have just learned that my wife's g-grandfather, Louis
URSIN, came from Hungary to Sharpsville, PA in 1902.
He returned to Hungary in 1903. In 1904, he moved to CT where he worked
in the textile mills. Does anyone have a guess about what Louis would
have been doing in Sharpsville? Was there some occupation that
attracted foreigners at that time? Thanks for any assistance/guesses
you might be able to provide.

I am researching Rev. Gilbert McMASTER. Gilbert and
his family settled in Franklin Co. abt 1792. I have found references
that indicate he attended Jefferson College and practiced medicine in Mercer
from 1805 to 1807. He became a Presbyterian minister in 1807.
Gilbert had at least two children born while he was in Mercer. Two of
his sons were also Presbyterian ministers. I would like to contact any Presbyterian
churches that may have records dating back to that era. Any
info. on Gilbert or info. on Presbyterian churches in the Mercer area would
be appreciated.

g-grandfather and I have info. on his descendants but know nothing about the
rest of the family.
