Millie Matilda Thomas Bortz
Graduated from South High School, Youngstown, Ohio 1916. Received
teaching certificate at Drexel Institute, Philadelphia, PA and taught
school in Wooster, Mass and Connecticut. Returned to Youngstown
and took a comptometer course and went to work for a J.C. Bailey of
Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad in Greenville. Met her future
husband, Charles Sylvester Bortz who lived on a farm on Old Hamburg
Road, Greenville. They traveled by train to Erie, PA where they
married on Dec 11, 1919. Six children: Beatrice Ruth, Juanita Elaine,
Charles Robert "Bob", Richard Leroy, Marguerite Blanche, and
Ronald.
