William A. Zahniser, of Lake Township, was born December 17, 1844 [to David and Elizabeth Zahniser], educated at the common schools, and in 1863 enlisted in Company F, Fifty-fifth Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served sixty days. In 1867 he married Jane M. Bromley, daughter of Michael and Margaret Bromley, of Fairview Township, and has by her four children: Laura, Charles, Mary G. and J. Byron. He has held the office of school director of the township, is a member of the Stoneboro Agricultural Society, and votes the Republican ticket, and is a member of the Bethany Cumberland Presbyterian Church

William A. Zahniser died in 1903 and is buried in Bethany Cemetery in Lake Township.
