  Joseph B. Campbell

Joseph B. Campbell

Joseph B. Campbell died at his home in West Salem township, near this place [Greenville], November 30 [1894].  Mr. Campbell was known well and favorably to the majority of our readers in this vicinity where he spent all his life.  He was born near this place July 16, 1820, and ten years afterward moved into town with his parents.  From 1830 until four or five years ago he was a resident of Greenville.  He was one of the early merchants, being in partnership with A. P. Waugh, and conducting a dry goods store on the West Side which was then the main part of town.  (It is a coincidence that a grandson of his partner also died last week - - John H. Waugh.)  Afterward he became book keeper for William Achre.  Mr. Campbell served in the war in the 145th regiment.  He married Emeline, a daughter of Jesse Fell, of which union two children were born:  Joseph, of this place, and Mrs. Hunter Patterson, of Fulton county.  Both children and Mrs. Campbell are living.  The interment was at Fredonia, Saturday.
