Oscar W. Burdette, 86,of Stoneboro, died Sunday afternoon, June 19, in his home following an illness. He was born in Millbrook, Worth Twp., Mercer Co., Aug 24 1901,to Lester and Susan Smith Burdette. He married the former Mildred I. Snyder on 3 July 1923,and she died in 1966.At the age of 17, Mr. Burdette went to work for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a clerk at Jackson Center. He continued that position until 1937 when he went to work as a feed grinder at Jamison's Feed Mill in Fredonia. He retired from there in 1968. Mr. Burdette also operated a small farm at his home
near Stoneboro. Surviving are his brother, David Herman, Stoneboro, our daughters, Mrs. Helen Lucille Komar and Mrs. Joseph (Thelma) Albert of 
Cochranton, Mrs. William (Roberta) Gerber, Hermitage, and Mrs. Willard (Jocelyn) Buckley, Mercer; three sons, the Rev, Oscar W. Burdette Jr., Greenville, Ohio, Vivian Lester Burdette, Willoughby, Ohio, and George
Richard Burdette,Sanford,Texas,19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Four brothers, Clarence, Charles, Elton, and Norris, and a sister, Villa, preceded him in death. Friends will be received at the John
T. Oates Funeral Home, Stoneboro, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted there at 2 p.m. Wednesday with his son the Rev. Oscar W. Burdette Jr., pastor of the United Methodist Church, Greenville, Ohio, officiating. Internment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
