Congregational Church

-----

The Congregational Church.—This church was organized March 27th, 1847, with nine members, who, at the division of the New school Church, had separated therefrom. The congregation occupied the old court house for its business and religious services, until April 18th, 1852, at which time their new house was dedicated. Its present membership is about fifty; and its Sabbath-school has a roll of sixty. The first pastor was Rev. D. R. Barker, who organized the church. He died in 1875, and his memory is fondly cherished. The Revs. J. M. Caldwell, Charles P. Mallery, D. L. Geer, and W. C. Sexton, served successively as pastors. Rev. S. Manning is the present [1877] pastor, and labors faithfully in the field he occupies.
