According to the 1895 Atlas for Pennsylvania,
Osgood was a small village in Northwestern Mercer County with railroad
service and an express office.
In fact, Osgood was the junction for three area
rail lines - the Erie, Lake Shore & Michigan Southern, and the
Bessemer 'Old Line.'

Where the Lake Shore
[railroad] crosses the Bessemer [railroad] is the
little village of Osgood, and on the other side of the river, at the
junction of the Lake Shore and Erie, is Amasa station.
