Godfrey Carnes

Godfrey Carnes was a Veteran of the Revolution, who came from Westmoreland County, Penn., in 1801 and settled in Pymatuning Twp. He was the founder of what became the well-known farm, "Brookside Farm".

Godfrey married Mary McDowell in Westmoreland Co. and together they raised 12 children.

A family plot exists at Oakwood Cemetery with a rather large family monument encircled with family member burials which includes Godfrey and his wife, Mary, and many of their children and respective spouses.

For more information on Godfrey, Mary and family, please, see the Military/Revolutionary War section of this website.
