Jesse Knight was born
on 29 Aug 1893 in Coaltown, Lawrence Co., to James & Belle Lumley
Knight. He married Sarah Jane Curtis
on 19 Dec 1919.
They had the following children: Clarence Earl and
Charles Leroy both of Volant; Ethel
Masajada of New Castle; Ruth Butler,
Mercer; Esther Hanna, Volant; & Wanda
Rummell, Arlington, VA.
Jesse Knight served during WWI as a
private in Company C 12th Machine Gun BN with the US Army in Germany & France.
He was a retired coalminer and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a member of the Richard Craft Post of the American
Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars & a member of the Stanley Snyder Post of #2 Mine.
