John Bromley Sr.

John Bromley, Sr., was christened 31 Aug 1788 in Kirk Ireton, Derbyshire, England) was first married to Frances Holmes (christened 11 Jun 1789 in Kirk Ireton, Derbyshire, England). The couple were married in the parish of Kirk Ireton on 19 Jun 1810. They were the parents of four children: Elizabeth (christened 6 Jan 1811); John, Jr. (christened 31 Apr 1813); Mary, (christened 20 Aug 1815); and Michael (christened 11 Jan 1819). All four children were christened in the Parish of Kirk Ireton. The entire family emigrated to the states on the "Ship Splendid" (Ship's Master, William Lee) which embarked from Liverpool, England and arrived at the Port of New York on July 30, 1830.

Following the death of Frances on 22 Jan 1837, John, Sr., married Mary McCormick, (26 Feb 1813 - 29 Sept 1901), the 
daughter of Archibald and Jane Hill McCormick. The couple had five children: Frances, born abt 1840; James M. born 3 Apr 1842; Nancy, born abt. 1844, Rebecca, born abt. 1847 and Thomas H. born 6 Jun 1850.

John, Sr., died on 18 Oct 1870, at the age of 82 years and was interred next to his first wife, Frances Holmes Bromley, at Cool Spring Cemetery, in Coolspring Township, Mercer County.
