DOTTER, KUNKEL, KUNKLE, MARTZ, YETTER posted by Mark & Marion Serfass on Thursday, August 6, 1998

A James E. Kunkle from Denver, CO wrote a book on the KUNKEL family of Monroe County back in 1996. Does anyone have Mr. Kunkle's internet address? I am researching John YETTER (d.abt Aug 1823, Middlesmithfield twp, Monroe, PA) who married Catherine (b.abt 1758; d.abt 1835). They had the following children: Joseph, Jacob, Adam, Mary, Catharine, Henry, Isac, Magdalena (b.1770; d.1840), John (b.1777; d.1862), Abraham (b.1788; d.1844),Daniel (b.1804) Daniel MARTZ (b.abt 1836) md. Julia Ann DOTTER (b.15 May 1836) and christened in the Gilbert Church 18 Sep 1836. They had at least the following children: Jerome (b.26 Sep 1869; bp.5 Dec 1869, Gilbert Church) and Nathan (b.1 May 1874; bp.5 Jul 1874, Gilbert Church). Daniel and Julia were sponsors to one of the children of Ebesina MARTZ and William SERFASS. Ebesina (b.abt 1825; d.aft Oct 1873). I believe Daniel and Ebesina are brother and sister. Daniel is listed as residing in Penn Forest Twp, Carbon County. I am looking for anyone else researching this Martz family.

In 1878, Barbara and Robert took their family and moved to Minnesota where her uncle (Andrew KEIPER) was living. Solomon's line is Christapher II, Christapher I, Heinrich CHRISTMAN. AVERY, GIST, JONES, LYONS, STERNER posted by Jane Smith on Friday, August 28, 1998

Looking for lineage of John JONES (b.abt 1767). Legend states he was brought down through the "shades of death" by either Christopher GIST or an Indian from the Wyoming massacres. I have read that the JONES, AVERY and LYONS families were never heard from again. Above John JONES could be a son that was found wandering in the woods during or after the massacres. When he reached adulthood, he married Anna Christina STERNER, daughter of Michael STERNER, a friend of the Indians. When he was buried it was stated he was 85 or more. Obviously, when he was brought into the west end of Monroe County, no one knew precisely how old he was. I am hoping to connect with either a JONES descendant or with one or more persons working on the refugee flight towards safety and the pacificist Moravians.

CAMRON, HINELINE, SCHUYLER, SKYLER posted by Carolyn Mattern on Friday, August 28, 1998

I am searching for information about a William HINELINE from Egypt Mills. He was married to Esther SKYLER. I found Esther's gravestone in the Bushkill Cemetery about 15 years ago. Her parents Solomon SKYLER and Maria CAMRON are buried in Swartwood Cemetery. My grandfather always said we were related to Gen. Philip SCHUYLER of Revolutionary War fame. Any help appreciated.

CHAMBERLIN, OLEWINE, RAISH, SEBRING posted by Judy Kay Roatcap-Haselwood on Friday, August 28, 1998

I am searching for any information regarding the RAISH family. Godfrey RAISH (b.1846) reportedly died around 1870 in Briar Patch, Monroe, PA and is buried near Gouldsboro, PA. He is the son of William and Alvera Malvina (CHAMBERLIN) RAISH. With Godfrey's first wife, Jane OLEWINE, he had 4 children. The information I have is that with his second wife, Mary SEBRING, he had four more children. The discrepancy I have found is that one person (without verified information) states that he died in 1870, but another person (without verified information) states that his last child was born 30 May 1876. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

BOND, JUNG, YOUNG posted by Debbie Wilck on Friday, August 28, 1998

I have been researching the family of Nicholas YOUNG (JUNG) who came to Philadelphia from Germany in 1748. I have names of his children and my ancestors to the present. Two of his grandsons moved to western New York and my info focuses on them. I would love to know of the descendants who remained in PA. Nicholas came over from the Palatine region of Germany in the "Patience and Margaret" ship. He and his father-in-law Samuel BOND fought in the Revolution. Nicholas bought land in Hamilton Township from Richard and Thomas PENN in 1763, but I have not yet found a copy of that deed. An early history of Monroe County says, "prior to the War of the Revolution, Thomas BOND became a resident of the township, having built and occupied a cabin on John W. YOUNG's farm." Are these two individuals related to MY BOND and YOUNG? Please contact me if you have any interest in this family.

BUSKIRK, SMITH posted by Theresa Carhart on Sunday, September 13, 1998

I am trying to locate the parents of Oliver W. BUSKIRK. He died in Monroe County. I also need to find any info on where he was buried. I would also like to know more about his wife, Edna J. SMITH. She died on 13 Nov 1922. I have their son Seldon, and on down the line, but nothing before his parents. Seldon was in the 1890 census (30 years old) of Northampton Co, but I was told he died in Monroe Co.
