HOLSHISER, HULSHISER, HULSIZER, SCHEETZ, SHITTS, SHITZ, SMITH posted by Daniel Kunkle on Saturday, February 6, 1999

Seeking info on my 3rd gr-grandparents Aaron HULSHISER and his wife, listed as Margaret on the 1860 & 1870 Monroe Co Chestnut Hill Twp PA Census. Their children were Maria, Catharine, Charles, Dianna, Joseph, Sarah, Cornelia (who was my 2nd gr-grandmother and was married to William SMITH),Emma, ?, Alvin and Eve. Cornelia SMITHs PA death cert lists Aaron HULSIZER and Rebecca SCHEETZ as her parents. The 1850 Monroe Co Chestnut Hill Twp PA census also lists John SHITTS (75) and Margaret ? (74) as neighbors to Aaron and Margaret (Peggy) HOLSHISER. Would like to know the correct spelling of these surnames, the correct name for Cornelias mother (Margaret or Rebecca) and if Margaret/Rebeccas parents were John and Margaret SHITTS. Any info on the HULSHISER and SHITTS family histories would be greatly appreciated.

MARSH posted by Kathy Marsh on Friday, February 19, 1999

I'm looking for information about the MARSH family from Monroe County. My husband's ancestor was Peter Marsh, born about 1792 (per 1860 census) in PA. By 1840 this Peter Marsh was in Taney (Ozark) County, MO with wife, Lucinda ?, and six children. It appears he may have been married before, and may have lived in Ohio on the way to Missouri. I would like to correspond with anyone searching early Marsh families in PA. Thank you.
