ARNOLD, DEATER, DEETER, DEITER, DETER, DETRICK, DÖTTER, DUBOIS, DÜTTER, ENGLER, FRANKS, MOYER, NAUMAN, NEWHART, RINKER, WOLF, ZACHARIAS posted by Robert V. Nauman on Saturday, April 10, 1999

Thanks to hard work and some excellent responses to my March 16, 1997 query on this site, I have learned a lot about the ancestors and descendants of NAUMANS, ARNOLDS, FRANKS, MOYERS, NEWHARTS, RINKERS, and ZACHARIASES about whom I inquired earlier. I am willing and eager to share the information I have obtained. I am now searching for: (1) the ancestors and descendants of George (b-1795) and Sarah (b-abt. 1799) ENGLER and their daughter Anna Maria ENGLER RINKER (1831-1857); (2) the descendants of John NAUMAN (b-abt 1829), who supposedly moved from the Paradise Valley of Monroe County, PA to some place in Michigan probably between 1850 and 1870. John was the son of Michael NAUMAN and Catherine "Katie" WOLF Nauman. (I am also interested in the descendants of John's brothers who also moved west - Isaiah NAUMAN (b-abt 1833) to Wisconsin, Samuel NAUMAN (b-abt 1836)to Nebraska, and Frederick NAUMAN (b-abt 1841)to western Pennsylvania; (3) the descendants of any of the seventeen children of Elias DETRICK (1784-1862); (4) the ancestors of Hiram FRANKS (1848-1895); (5) the ancestors and descendants of Julia DEITER (1840-1914) and her sister Mary and brother William. Julia DEITER (Dutter, Dotter, Dütter, Dötter, Deter, Dieter, Deeter, Deater) was married to Frederick DUBOIS and William ZACHARIAS; (6) the ancestors of Michael ZACHARIAS (b-1810) and Daniel ZACHARIAS (b-1822). Were Daniel and Michael brothers?; (7) the ancestors and descendants of Jacob (b-abt 1800) and Catherine ?????? MOYER. Jacob was born in Monroe County but moved to Bradford County in the mid-nineteenth century; and (8) the descendants of Michael WOLF (1752- 1837). Michael died in Stroudsburg in 1837. I will share all information that I have or will obtain.

LAUER, LAUR, LAWER, LAWR, LOHR, LORE, MCCARTY, ZAVITZ posted by Pam on Thursday, April 22, 1999

Hamilton Twp. which used to be in Northampton, became part of Monroe when Monroe was formed, is this correct? Would anybody with access to early tax assessments or records pre-dating 1790 be able to look up the surname LAUR for me? Spelling of the name may be LAWER, LAUER, LOHR, LORE, or whatever combination to give the German surname LAUR. It was in Phoebe McCarty Roberts journal ca. 1822 that my John LAWER (LAUR) was a neighbour to her father in Hummelstown, over the mountain. Phoebe was visiting Quakers in Upper Canada and when visiting her sister Mary McCarty and her husband Christian ZAVITZ, she met my ancestor, John LAUR identifying him as a German and a Quaker from Pennsylvania. John LAUR was born 1761, so he might not show as the head of the family. I may be looking for his father, who given name I do not know. John LAUR had a brother Peter LAWR who also came to Canada ca. 1788 to Bertie Twp. Welland Co. Upper Canada, and both were granted land, not clear if as Loyalists. Any information on LAUR, any variation would help point me in the right directon. Thanks for your time
