VAN ETTEN posted by Mary Jane Elliott on Tuesday, November 7, 2000

Searching for someone with VanEtten roots in or around Delaware Water Gap or Monroe County area. My oldest-known ancestor was Samuel VanEtten (parent unknown) in 1740's in Montgomery County, New York. I also know that James VanEtten (parent unknown) left Delaware Water Gap around 1798 and settled on land in Chemung County, New York, which was later named the Town of Van Etten in honor of him. I am hoping that Samuel and James were from the same Van Etten line and that someone can give me more information.

BRUNDAGE, HARRIS, OSBORNE, SHARPE, WHITE, WILLIAMS posted by Holly Jagger on Wednesday, December 13, 2000

On June 21, 1862, a curious thing happened. At least four of my grgrgr grandparents' grandchildren got married--all children of Harriet Harris and Peter Osborne. They were apparently all married on that day in FENNERSVILLE, Monroe County, PA. Married were: Truman Sharpe Osborne and Rebecca Jane Williams, Freeling Brundage and Mary J. Osborne, Charles White and Zilpha Matilda Osborne, and Wilson Osborne and his bride. I am researching the William Harris/Betsy Sharpe line of WAYNE COUNTY PA before Monroe was formed, and need family information on the above surnames in present-day Monroe. Any assistance would be most appreciated. (Church marriage records? others researching? location of Fennersville, etc.)
