I am looking for the identities of the wife and children of Joseph Hillman who was born in 1751 in the Bushkill/Lower Smithfield area of Bucks County(now Pike and Monroe counties). His parents were Jan Hellman(John Hillman) and Catrina Keyser(Catherine Kaiser). He settled in Wyoming Valley as early as 1769 and lived in what is now Luzerne County until at least 1800. I have spotted him there in the townships of Wyoming and Kingston. Jim Smith, Newport Coast, CA.

HEPLER, HEPPLER, HOEPPLER posted by Carolyn Flint on Saturday, May 12, 2001

HEPLER is the name I am presently researching. Casper Hoeppler-Heppler- Hepler are some of the spellings. They came from Rotterdam, Holland in 1748 thru Philadelphia. Some of the family stayed in the area. I am sure there are decendants there yet. For a while they lived in Monroe Co then in Northampton Co. I am trying to see if anyone is searching this family. Thanks, Carolyn Flint. They were Lutherans by religion.

DOLL, HUNT, TRANSUE posted by John Doll on Friday, June 15, 2001

Looking for information on: Harry A. Doll, born in Stroudsburg, Monroe Country, PA on 8/9/1863. He died in Chicago on 1/16/1935. Georgianna Hunt, from Delaware Water Gap, Monroe County, PA, born in 1864. She died prior to Harry...not sure when...but was between 1910 and 1935. They married on 8/22/1886 in New Jersey (potentially the same church that Georgianna's parents were married). They moved to New Jersey around 1887 - 1892...based off 1910 Census records from Chicago. They did move to Chicago in 1895 between the births of two of their children. Harry did work for the railroad in various capacities...the last I have is as a foreman in Chicago. I do know that he lived in Jersey City, NJ in 1893 and worked as a brakeman for a railroad there. There children were/are: Lawrence born in 1887 in PA; Vernon born in 1892 in NJ; Harry Jr born in 1895 in NJ; Leslie (my grand-father) born in 1896 in Chicago; Ruth born in 1905 in Chicago; According to the 1910 census, they had 8 children born, but only 5 were living at the time. The names of the deceased children may be: Charles, Paul, and Wilbur. I think that Harry may be the son of Charles Doll and Hannah Transue...I just haven't found anything concrete to confirm or deny this link. Also, Georgianna may be one of the daughters of a John and Elizabeth Hunt from Pahaquarry, NJ. Any information on Harry, Georgianna, or any of their children would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

ACE, DOTTER, DUTTER, SERFASS, STRUNK posted by Kay on Wednesday, June 27, 2001

I am beginning to research my ancestors in Monroe County i.e. STRUNK, DOTTER, SERFASS, ACE. I am considering the purchase of a county history and seek advise on which gives the most biographical data. Choices are 1.) History of Monroe Co by Keller, 500 p, c 1927, reprint 1997 2.) History of Wayne Pike, & Monroe Counties by Matthews, 1283p, c1886 reprint 1993. I would appreciate recommendations from anyone familiar with these histories.
