Military Order of the Purple Heart

Graydon H. Woods

Graydon H. Woods, 91, of Schnecksville, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit. He was the husband of the late Florence M. (Snyder) Woods. Graydon was born in Polk, PA a son of the late Julius and Blanche (Weston) Woods. He was a tool crib attendant for Mack Trucks for 35 years before retiring in 1979. Graydon was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving with the 28th Infantry Keystone Division. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and was an active supporter of the Purple Heart wounded combat Veterans. Graydon was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Lehigh Valley Chapter 190 and the UAW # 677 retirees. Graydon was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Allentown and a member of the former Trinity United Church of Christ, Allentown. He volunteered at the V.A. clinic every Monday morning. Survivors: Son, G. Scott husband of Barbara A. Woods of Coplay; daughter, Linda M. wife of Roger Mory of Coplay; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Julius Jr., Frank, Reed and Nevin; sisters, Mary Sopher and Shirley Carroll. Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Stephens Funeral Home Inc. 1335-37 Linden St. Allentown. Call 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will be in the Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
