The Mark Twain was a "Train of the Future" that passed through the Wyoming Valley in 1935. It travelled on either the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western (DL&W) line through West Pittston or on the Lehigh Valley Railroad line through Pittston, Pa. Click on the following to view a picture of the train as it passed through the valley.
The 109th Field Artillery was called to active duty during the Korean conflict and troops from the Wyoming Valley were enroute to their assignment when a terrible train accident occurred in Coshocton, Ohio. Willard Gower and his wife Miriam traveled to the site of the train wreck and here are some pictures along with the story of the accident and the soldiers who were involved.
