Rt.
Rev. Michael Domenec, D.D. Pittsburgh’s second bishop, Rt. Rev.
Michael Domenec, was born at Ruez, near Tarragona, Spain, in 1816;
ordained priest in Missouri, June 29, 1839; consecrated bishop in St.
Paul’s Cathedral, Pittsburgh, December 9, 1860; transferred to the Sec
of Allegheny January 11, 1876; resigned the See of Allegheny in July
1877; and died on January 5, 1878, at Tarragona, Spain, where his
remains are buried.
