E. Winger
Samuel
E. Winger was born 3 Dec 1850 at President, PA, to David and Catherine
Smith Winger, and was left fatherless at age twelve.
He
studied at Allegheny
College and Drew Theological Seminary, and became licensed to preach by
Trinity Church, Oil City, in 1870, received on trial in Erie Conference
in 1872, into full connection in 1874, ordained deacon the same year,
and Elder in 1876.
On
1 Jan 1873, he married Eva F. Clyde, daughter of Rev. James and Sabina
Muse Clyde of Mercer County. They became the parents of seven
children: Merril C., Rose F., Clare M., Samuel H.. Eva M., Bessie, Pearl and Cecil B.
He
served as pastor for various churches in the Erie Conference including
Brady's Bend; Waterloo; Venango; Sunville; New Bethlehem; Luthersburg; Helena,
Montana; Salem, Mercer County; Clarksville and others.
Samuel
E. Winger died 8 Feb 1912.
