My mother is from Mary D and she has intrigued me with her stories about
my uncle and grandfather who were involved in the coalmining industry.
I have visited Mary D, but because it was just a patch town it has been
difficult to locate any information. here is a character to the coal regions
that few people have been able to capture and I ove to ride through the
mountains and through the small towns, climb to the abandoned mines, walk
over the slag heaps now hidden under the growth of new forests, and l sten
to the long forgetten music of the big bands at the now deserted Lakehurst
(? am not sure the name is correct). It has been wonderful to find your
page on the internet and as my wonderings continue I will add any information
I come up with. Keep up the excellent work.

am trying to locate my Irish family that lived in this county. I believe
they were there in 1870 because my grandmother, Alice Farrell, was born
there in 1872. I am trying to find if her family was here prior to 1870,
perhaps in 1860 & 1850. I am not sure where they landed or when. This
is really a great page. Thanks

Wow! I feel like I struck gold when I found this webpage! Keep up the great
work. I have recently started to search for my roots. I was born and raised
in Frackville. My mother still lives in Frackville and has her entire life.
My father (died Jan. 19 9), was from Mahanoy Plane (or Maizeville). His
real father was Stephen Basara and died when my father was only 10 years
old. My father barely remembered him, and I have no idea if my gf had any
siblings. My mother's maiden name was Cooper and I have t at traced back
to the Pribulick and Billie families on my gm side. My gf Cooper came over
from Eastern Europe, had some siblings, but I'm hitting a brick wall there
also. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
